Setting up Your Betta Fish BowlFind Out How Easy it is To Set up Your Betta Fish Bowl and Find Various Betta Fish Bowls For SaleThe Betta fish bowl is very beautiful and can make an interesting addition to anybody's home. By accompanying it with a lovely plant or decorated vase, placing some decorative stones, you can create the perfect accent for a table center or other location throughout your house where you would add a little touch of beauty. Setting up a Betta fish bowl is inexpensive to put together and to keep. Specific Betta Fish Bowls are Available![]() Often, you will be able to find a specifically manufactured bowl, or vase, designed to house your Betta fish. There are many decorative bowl kits available that contain a small plastic tray that can fit around the neck of the opening. However, you can put to good use a large vase. Make sure to select one with the neck opening large enough to insert a plant that can rest inside. The size should be at least two thirds of a gallon, or approximately 11 inches tall and 6 inches wide. Yet, bigger is better. Also, make sure you have a plastic cup if you didn't purchase a vase with an insert. You can also purchase a large bag of decorative stones, ribbon or strings of beads to decorate the vase if you like. A great choice for a plant for your Betta fish bowl would be a Peace Lilly or Philodendron since both of these are safe for the fish to eat.
Selecting Your Betta FishYou'll also need to make a decision about which Betta fish you want to purchase. The male of the species is the most beautiful, but you may also find some fantastic looking female Betta fish as well.
You can go a little crazy, if you like, coordinating your choice of accents - such as stones, ribbons or beads - to match the color of your fish. Lastly, you'll need to acquire water conditioner to remove chlorine from it, some food and a fish net. Putting it All Together The most difficult aspect about owning a Betta fish is setting up its living quarters. It isn't all that hard to do, and once it is complete you will have a beautiful accent to your home. Make sure that you wash the stones first along with the container, bowl or vase. Once washed, place these at the bottom of the container covering it about 1 inch deep. Now fill the container with water until it is about an inch below the neck. This will allow the Betta fish to have some room to breathe since they are top water fish. Also, your chosen plant will occupy space in the neck. Condition the water with about 10 drops to properly remove the chlorine. It is important to make the water safe for your fish. Your other option is to use bottled water but this can become expensive in a short time. After you have thoroughly washed out the roots of the plant, make sure you cut a hole in the plastic insert to allow it to poke through the top. Gently place the plant through the hole and into the container. Add your fish and other decorative elements to the bowl or vase and you are all set to enjoy.
